friday ho-hum

i have twenty minutes before my three-hour chemistry lab on a friday, oh joy!

i'm tired. i don't know if it's a) not enough sleep or b) i'm not eating enough fruits and veggies. does that have anything to do with it? not getting all the necessary vitamins i suppose. i was proud of myself today though, i packed a really healthy lunch! bagel with mustard and salami on one half and pate on the other half; two satsuma oranges and a bag of walnuts! i think that's the healthiest lunch i've eaten since i've arrived in the uk.

having said that though, i'm about to have a twix before i go to lab, hehehe...

have a good weekend everyone!

Food is everything. I am convinced that your health is determined by what you eat and that your brain somehow figures out what you are lacking or saturated of...and then subconsciencely persuades you to intake accordingly. For instance: Friday night I cooked a HUGE baked fusilli full of tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, garlic, basil, asparagus, zucchini, eggplant, carrots, and topped with ricotta, mozzarella and peccorino. For dessert: cheese blintzes with pumpkin ice cream. Saturday brunch was pierogies (avec apple sauce and sour cream) and bratwurst (avec three kinds of mustard). Dinner was a little on the light side: creamy potato/leek/brussels sprouts soup accompanied by cucumber/tomato/feta salad and freshly warmed baguette. This morning was Red River cereal (avec du lait et sucre brun, bien sur) and apple + orange salad. This evening I made immense amounts of stuffed peppers (red bell, Hungarian, and poblano), Moroccan couscous (apples, raisins, garam masala; dig), and sweet potato + corn salad.

I think I covered all the bases...hmmmm, I could go for some sashimi right about now...
